Layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, ricotta and melted cheese baked until golden and bubbling. Proper comfort food.
Brown the beef with the onion and garlic, then stir in the marinara and simmer until rich.
Beat the ricotta with the egg, half the parmesan and a little basil.
Layer meat sauce, lasagna sheets, ricotta and mozzarella, and repeat to fill the dish.
Finish with sauce, mozzarella and parmesan, then bake until bubbling and golden.
Let it rest for a few minutes before cutting so the layers hold.
